Anxiety Tonite.

So I just got woken up by a panic/anxiety attack. Lasted probably 5 minutes.. This is a huge improvement for me. Im learning how to calm myself down and relax. Believe it or not just taking slow deep breaths helps sooo much. What triggered it my guess is right before I fell asleep I was thinking what if my SVT came back after the ablation.. Would I die? Lol the things that go through my head I swear you would think Im a crazy woman. But I had a new symptom with this anxiety attack was wondering if it was common with anyone else. My leg muscles started cramping like mid attack. I usually have 3-4 symptoms that happen everytime but this was new for me. Any ideas?

Deep breathing helps. Listen to some calming music (not head-banger metal) so as to focus your mind elsewhere. Close your eyes, and breathe into a handkerchief so as to absorb the Carbon Dioxide that can create the imbalance. If you have a phrase or mantra to say over and over again, that helps--a chant or scripture that has meaning for you. What I do is to turn on TV to some meaningless stuff, and watch nonsense TV for a little while to focus elsewhere. Any activity that helps focus elsewhere is good, and try to visualize alternate scenarios in your mind than the health one.

i have had the leg cramping and leg numbess while having my panic attacks, i believe its due to to much oxygen and not enough carbon dioxide from hyperventilating

Sorry that you had an anxiety attack, that is no fun. I have not had the cramping, but, I do get short of breath, I have never smoked, drank, or anything, the doc said is just my lung muscles and chest muscles that get tight when I am anxious.

When this happens at night, or even if I am nervous when I go to bed, I turn on the TV and watch something I like , this helps to relax me.

Hope you are feeling better.

Probably just muscle spasms due to anxiety, rather than Oxygen sat.

Hey! Kudos for the progress!

I'm reading a book right now that's about ablations and medical devices and such, and one of the head electrophysiologist Doctors at Johns Hopkins is quoted as saying "Nobody's ever died from afib." And afib is the worst brand of SVT you can have. So, there's that.

Most arrhythmias are simply not serious. They are scary, but 99% of them are NOT serious. Only people with damaged hearts get Vfib, or anything like that. So, we obsess over the oddities of the skips and thunks and do more damage to ourselves than the beat eccentricities. can do. We think about them nonstop, thereby screwing up our personal lives and personal happinesses--this does far worse things than a run of even a few days of Bigiminy. There are very few conditions that doctors consider serious in the arrhythmia grouping, and most of them manifest very clearly and can be caught with the appropriate tests. The vast majority of us worry too much.
