Anybody ever have this happen!?

I got woke up this morning feeling a HUGE JOLT, felt like hiccup! But it only happened once and then it was over...this has happened to me for years and this "one hiccup" happens to me during my waking hours!?!? But when it happens to me during my sleep...its so frightening....I went online and of course I got scared, it said hiccups during sleep were a sign of oxygen deprivation!!! And so obviously I couldn't go back to sleep...
Lacking oxygen in Kansas!?

Waking up with a hiccup? hmmm to me it wouldn't remind me of oxygen deprived but more something about your tummy. And nothing bad either. But I kno what you mean, it will scare us then here goes Mr. Google lol

Yeah, I sometimes hate the power"Google"....it said something about the diaphragm and oxygen...and lacking there of....that alone kinda gave me insomnia! I mean I don't wake up gasping...I had the "hiccup" and felt physically fine afterwards but at 0200 I decided to analyze my health! And yeah, it didn't feel like my heart...it did feel like my chest....aggravating as heck! Thanks for replying though!

Yeah, in fact I got one of those thumps this morning. According to my doctor, after reading one of my cardiograms, it is the strong beat that can come after having PVCs--the body regulating the rhythm with extra electrical impulses. It isn't oxygen deprivation in all likelihood, it is an extra beat that is compensating for the rhythm change.

I have not had that............yet. Sounds like your heart adjusting to waking up, hard to say, those darn things can come anytime and feel so different as well.

I get them and my kids get them too, it wakes me up especially when they get them. I think it's just because ur breathing from your nose then bamm you stir and start breathing from ur mouth but you do it a little slow so it's like a big gasp for air. I think it's really normal. I never associated it to my heart because I don't feel it there- so maybe u just feel it and I don't???

Katie,
I associated it at first with sleep apnea but I don't really like gasp for air...its like a huge hiccup...just once...and then its over! It feels kinda freaky, I even make a hiccup sound but its the chest "thump" that wakes me up! I have even done this during my waking hours...and its just like a one hiccup thing, then its over...it makes me feel like my body is compensating for lack of breathing or oxygen but physically, I feel fine...that's when I "googled" hiccups during sleep and it said it was caused by a lack of oxygen!!?! So if this is true during sleep, maybe this is what's been happening to me during the day, sometimes!?!? I can't breathe!?!? And this, I truly believe is what's causing my anxiety/panic attacks!? And oh yeah, on top of the heart....just kinda scared :'(
Jules
P.S I asked my doc if he'd give me permission to see a pulmonologist...DENIED!

That happens to me and my kids sometimes in the day too- no symptoms with it just a huge single hiccup. I've never ever given it much worry and don't feel any sensation in my heart except for the jolt you would normally get from a hiccup.

Katie,
Sorry, to bug you...but just to reiterate what you said previously....you have had the "hiccup" during sleep before? Again, I'm just trying to relax here...my husband is irritated with me because I won't quit googling.....
Jules
And thanks again for letting me bother you!
