Anxiety definetly makes it worse and when you can get that under control, things start to be better and you can take your life back. I bet ur already exhausted and stressed from having three kids. I have two and it's terribly difficult; some days u just don't rest. Lack of sleep and improper nutrition will cause ALOT of issues with ur heart rate as well, so make sure your taking care of urself.

I didn't know hot flashes were anxiety related? I always thought mine were hormonal? I'd wake up in the middle of the night sweating, heart bothering me- not palpitations but extreme tightness and super hot. Interesting to think it could be anxiety? But why while sleeping? Oh well I guess it really doesn't matter. We are all fine- Thank God and I'll do my best to try to stay that way!

You go, girl. That is what you need. I have exactly that, and it makes me normal, when stresses get too excessive. SO glad you are doing that!!

Thank you!!! My husband told me to wake him up when I have the attacks but from my experience, people who don't understand what I'm going through...only get frightened when they see me shaking and trembling....which sends my adrenaline into overdrive...if that's even possible!

Katie,
I ended up having a semi mild attack in her office..right in front of her!! And it never fazed her....which helped me tons! I asked her to check my lungs and my Oxygen...she said, "No"..my mouth fell open, she must've noticed this because she said it would only feed into my anxieties...
She said my throat closing , shortness of breath and heart pounding were real but all caused from adrenaline! Told her I felt so bad like I was going to pass out and she said," You probably would've but that's why I'm going to start you on Propranol for the racing, pounding heart and Zoloft for the anxiety so you dont end up fainting and hitting your head and then ending up in the E. R"
Her voice was calming...so it definitely helped! And tomorrow I have appt with a therapist that specializes in anxiety disorders!
But I swear I can just start "choking" from my own saliva...its like I try to swallow but I can't get any oxygen to even take a breath in....and yeah, this happened tonight while trying to swallow to eat!! I've lost 2lbs because I'm not eating...and drinking has got me freakin out...I started crying in her office...I feel so stupid and embarrassed...
Hoping tomorrow gives me some kind of relief...
Jules
