Hello, well, as most of you know from reading my journals that I have been wearing a 7 day KOH monitor.
Well, up to tonight, all was well, in fact, I hardly pressed the button, I think in the two weeks I have had it, I have pressed a total of 32 times. (this is my second monitor, the first one did not work well, so, I pestered the tech until I got this one) Well, tonight I called my 8 in to transmit, I do not have to call until the monitor reads 15, but, I like to do it sooner, I hate that "fax-like" noise. Well, I was sitting here listening as it was transmitting, you can hear the heart beat behind the steady fax whistle. Well, tonight, for the first time, I heard some really weird beats and it scared me and I even cried a little. One or two events went like this: normal beat, then into a faster beat for about 3 to 6 beats, then back to normal, I had no skips in between, normally, I have skips before the fast beats and after, not this time however. Is that A-fib or VT? I am still shook up over it. I also heard some skipped beats, but, again, it was different from what I have felt, it was like a beat, skip, beat, skip, etc, maybe a row of 3, it is hard to tell when that hellish whistle is going. Anyway, I am sort of nervous, as I said, up till tonight, I wa fine, I was pretty sure all was well and had not even had any anxiety for two weeks and was smiling again, now, I am sort of anxious. Have any of you experienced these kinds of beats? You know it is funny, when I feel my pulse during a skip, it does not feel like the machine sounds, hmmmm. |

Well did they contact you about them? If not, it wasn't anything to worry about. Sounds like those brief bursts of SVT (PACs in a row) like I get and like you had on your holter. Don't worry. You are fine. Setbacks are expected but push through it. Don't let it bring you back down to where you were. Besides, you were fortunate enough to catch it so rest assured that you will find out what they are and then you can relax. I was so glad that mine caught those because I used to worry about them too. Now I now it is just quick beats of PACs (SVT) and isn't dangerous.

I had one of those monitors about 7 years ago. This time it was one that transmitted on its own wirelessly. Anyway, I remember that sound all too well. Also, I was always reminded that if it was something to be concerned about, they would call me or my Dr immediately. Since they did not...I think the others are right.
Also, the way you describe the beats...it sounds JUST like the dr explained to me yesterday. I had one lke that on my readout from my recent 30 day monitor. She said it was a 7 beat SVT and was harmless. However, I never felt a fast beat. It felt the same way the PACs always feel, like a skipped beat. I realize now I am feeling the pause after an early beat. Anyway, that 7 beat SVT felt like that and that is why I pushed the button. SOOO...even tho I am the same as you and was in tears the past couple days myself...I think we are actually both ok. ((HUGS)) |
