Hello Jeff and all,
Since my last post i have been researching esophageal spasms (ill call them ES for short). What i read is very interesting and oddly links to many people who experience ectopics also. I hope the gent who wrote this doesn`t mind but below is an article written on an ES post for your information;- "The heart is very close to the oesophagus and when you have oesophagitis this may mean that it swells up enough to be affected by the heartbeat. My interpretation is that it causes a sort of amplified signal feedback and this is what you feel. Everybody's heart flutters and does strange things now and then, but this is within the normal range for a healthy heart. As your heart is fine, then I'm afraid that you will just have to get used to it. Implementing the GERD lifestyle changes have reduced the symptoms for me http://www.gicare.com/pated/ecdgs39.htm . I assume, that this is because I have the inflammation under control. However, I am on steroids as well as chemotherapy for my Crohn's disease, so I have additional help, except that the steroids exacerbate GERD." I hope you find this as interesting as i did. Could explain a lot for alot of us!!! I would like to hear your views. Neil |

That is interesting and does seem to correlate with what I was experiencing in Nov '08 - Feb '09. I was having some sorts of gastrointestinal issues - not enough to require any kinds of surgery (
and I had an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (fancy word for sticking a camera down your throat, all the way to your small intestines) that came out clean. Once my gastro issues faded, so did those sharp pains I was having. I don't recall if the ECG of my sharp pain is in ths thread or another, but it shows what I believe to be esophageal spasms. So yeah, I think there may be credence to that. |
