Faster HR after eating

I'm trying to see if this is all in my head or not, But there have been quite a few occasions when right after I eat, my heart rate seems to be a little fast and also it sometimes feels stronger. It's not fast like SVT but I can definately feel it in my chest when I'm just sitting there. Anyone experience this? If so, why might this be happening? Maybe I'm losing it....
My guess is that when it does this, my rate is probably right over 100bpm.

I have noticed this too. I hang around 88-110. This doesn't seem to occur when I have a light meal. But is quite bothersome after a heavy meal.

I just replied to kate about this on another thread.
My heart will race after I eat too much. Well, around 100 but if feels like it is faster. Maybe because it is beating harder. If I stay sitting down I feel okay, but if I stand up, it even speeds up more. I kind of feel like I just ran a few laps and have to bend over to slow it down.
That is all part of digestion and completely normal. Just for some of us lucky ones, we are very sensitive to it.
Like a drink. If I have a martini, a few hours later my heart will beat faster. I know it is the dehydration setting in but it still makes me crazy.
I just take 1/4 of the atenolol and it settles it right down. Therefore I can still have my "happy hour" lol

This one's hard for me to comment on because I don't know much about why it happens, I don't think I've experienced it myself (experience is always the best teacher). But I've read about enough people having this exact issue. Could be stomach pressing on the heart, but I doubt it. Could be something with the central nervous system, sending out reactive signals when food is sensed in the stomach. Not really sure.

Might be a good next article topic.

There are a couple of reasons why the heart beats faster after a meal, one, the heart works faster to help with digestion, and two, and one of the main reasons is due to food allergies or sensitivities. You see, when you are allergic to a food, the body sends out chemicals to see what is going on, and these chemicals cause the fast rate. The heart rate test is the best one for testing for allergies, if you speed up say, anywhere to 10 to 20 after you eat, there is a good chance you are allergic to what you ate. For example, if your resting rate is 68, and you jump up to 80 10 minutes after a meal, you could be allergic to the food. My naturopath also told me that some food allergies and allergies in general can cause irregular beats too, the cells are "plump" up and this causes pressure on the heart, and there you go.
