feeling much better

Well after struggling to keep my PACs and supraventricular complexes under control which led to runs of paf, I decided to give the Bisoprolol 2.5mg a go, probs like most of you there was no way I wanted to go on tablets but life had become all consuming with my heart and was scared to do anything different. Well six days later, a christening, work and normal life and so far ( not tempting fate) not one skip, blip and I feel like me again and am not obsessed with what my heart is or isn't doing, it may be more psycological than the tablets but so far it's working, I don't want to be on them for long but needed some normality and to move on with my life. Has anyone else been on betablockers for a while then tried coming off them and did the palps return?

First of all - great news!! Though we don't know each other, I can assure you that I am happy to hear when someone starts feeling better with this heart crud!!

I can honestly say that beta blockers have indeed helped me through the past 8 years. First propranolol, but that gave me shortness of breath. Once on metoprolol, it really started working well. I think it still does, honestly...I just have times when PACs are worse and unnerving. But my heart rate has been (knocking on wood) completely under control - no noticable sustained SVTs or tachycardias.

My only complaint is fatigue and the fact that I know it is making it difficult to lose weight. Even the electrophysiologist agreed. But, it is better than the alternative.

I would one day like to stop taking it...we'll see I guess. I am not ready for that experiment right now

Enjoy your new found freedoms!! Take care and have fun!!

Thank you Cheers, glad they have helped you too, I hope mine work for that amount of time if I am on them for that long.

I didn't realise but do they make it harder to lose weight? I have just got myself back to weightwatchers seems I'm feeling better lol and need to lose loads - the tiredness isnt as bad as after my hearts gone off on one and am on iron tablets too so hopefully moving the right way :-)

I have never tried Beta Blocker because I have lower BP and am worried it would make it worse. I need something to make me a zombie so I don't care anymore!

I think it depends on the person, the med and the dose. My electrophysiologist said if I stay under 25mg a day I SHOULD be ok. That said, I was able to lose 30+ pounds while on it...it was just VERY hard. These last 10 are seemingly impossible. So dont be too discouraged about it...it isnt half as bad as some other meds (Antidepressants) I have been on. And it CAN be done I can't afford WW - but most people do wonderfully on it!!

I have always had lower BP too. 110/70 was typical for me. But with Beta Blocker I only go to about 100/60 which isn't too bad. I think you'd know right away and could always stop taking them.

Zombie LOL. I hear ya. If I wasn't a mom I would probably take much more Klonopin But I have to be SOMEWHAT in tuned. But the sound of that is nice...except eating dead people. That would suck.

Lol yeah being a mom makes it harder to knock yourself out for awhile! My BP is usually around 99-110/ over 60-70 so when I'm anxious and it's like 120/70 I laugh!
