OK so I have seen this question come up before but I have to ask again. I had a surgery about 3 years ago and was pretty sick for about 48 hours after. I mean I was soooo dizzy and light headed, I would shake like my sugar dropped and the day after the surgery I stood up too fast and broke out into a full blown hot flash, was so close to passing out I could barely speak and had to put cold compresses on my neck and back.

Now I may have to have another surgery in a few months and I just want to get some opinions. Does this sound like a reaction to the anesthesia or that something funky was happening to my heart from the drug? Also,what is the anesthesia they can give heart patients?

Remember though, 3 years ago I never event felt a palpitation. When I had an accident 6 months ago I almost passed out, broke out in sweats etc and my electrophysiologist said it sounded like a very normal Vagal response to my fall...

You know us Heart peeps, we like the reassurance and I really want to have this surgery but I am rather nervous.... Does that other heart med really make a difference?

It could be a reaction to the anesthesia, or a post surgical reaction. I think that is not at all unusual, especially when general anesthesia is given. Even the mildest surgery is an invasive procedure on the body and it reacts accordingly. You might want to find out what drug was used in the surgical procedure, so as to avoid it, as anesthesiologists have many choices in the meds that they can use during surgery. I know that many people have severe reactions to Halothane, which is a general anesthetic.
