Having heart palps while shopping!!!

Has anybody ever felt this....I'm at the mall trying to enjoy my Saturday...and I'm standing in Aeropostale, I thought my heart felt funny, so I try to ignore it...happens again...start laughing, happens again...start walking and see some of my family, so my niece and I star talking and I feel my heart beating strangely off and on for the 15 mins we were talking...and every time it happened I swear it felt like my blood pressure was affected, like it was dropping!! I didn't feel like I was going to pass out but I felt like the "pressures" in my body suddenly were being compromised...like I needed to sit down?? I've had this crazy heart week..I don't understand why when I DO get these bp "droppings affected heart palps"...why is it usually when I'm walking or standing?? Help??

This *always* happens to me. For some reason, it seems to be triggered by the act of standing up, sitting down or... in your case walking. The other morning I got out of the car to walk into the electrophysiologist docs building and it kept happening. As soon as I stood still for a second, it stopped. Kept this up until I was seated again. It does this at times when I go in to work too. It's very mysterious. The only time my heart acts normal is when I'm laying flat on my back - I think it has something to do with the autonomic nervous system to be honest. At least this is what the cardio said. He also told me that when you're heart gets out of rhythm that it causes all kind of reactions in your brain. You are telling your brain somethings wrong, your brain is telling itself something is wrong - bam - panic reaction and you get all tingly. Just guessing.

Bursts of palps probably do muck with your blood pressure temporarily, though. I've been having a bad heart week too and am trying desperately to keep myself calm until 9/9.

I hope that your heart has calmed down by now. Maybe try a beta blocker? They really help me.

Thnk you for your reply! Yeah it's like excitement maybe starts it? But not always..like it 1st started happening just walking and "standing" started it. Laughing w/ excitement caused "pausing"...talking w/ excitement caused the same...it's like I kept getting different kinds of palps...just completely ruined my day! And now this morning, I woke up, turned over on my left side and my heart pauses..it was beating in a normal sinus rhythm then it just quit beating...it was like a one second pause, I noticed this because beforehand it was just beating in a normal sinus rhythm...the pausing scares me...I just don't get how this is suppose to be okay?? The thing is, when this was happening to me yesterday, I never checked my carotid, didn't feel the actual rhythm of the irregularity so not quite sure what it was doing, just standing/walking, I can feel my bp "dropping" and when I get them while sitting...I just feel the funky quick rhythm!
I'm so excited for you! Glad you are getting checked out again! I totally understand how you feel....I hope they can help you!!

When you say "off" does it feel like instead of beating on the:

1...2...3...4

It beats on the

1.[here].2.[here].3.[here].4.[here]

Sort of like its "off beat"?

Also have both of you been evaluated for postural orthostatic tachycadia syndrome? (Cant spell it).

I have a strange issue, when I stand up from sitting my heart beat will go slower. When I sit down from standing it will do the same, and I can actually feel it sometimes.

I've clocked it at around 40bpm in the past until it returns to normal.

We've got some mystery going on, hence why we are all under 1 roof with no definitive answer as to whats actually going on. I doubt we'll ever get the answers.

Jayone,
The pulse drop seems to happen to me sometimes. It'll go for a couple of weeks like that and then get better. I think dehydration is a trigger for it. It always freaks me out though. And my chest feels tight and heavy when it happens. I was wondering if it had anything to do with the vegus nerve. I currently am about half way done with a cardio net continuos 21 day monitor, so well see what they say.

Dehydration and the vagus nerve are both HUGE triggers. I read a fair bit about vagus nerve, but it seems doctors don't know how to test the vagus nerve.

If it is related to electro impulses and the vagus is the culprit, we might have some light on how to solve the problem.

I think 99% of here can say palps are worse after eating, and the vagus nerve can be irritated during eating.
