Well, I decided I will see a cardio at a hospital in a neighboring city. My mother works there and speaks to this Dr often and thinks that he would be straight with me. She really seems to respect him as does his staff. They are going to get me in within the next 2 weeks. Until then, gonna just try to chill out

Thank you all so much...and please...any other advice...keep it coming!!

BRAVO!!!! Smart decision. Ablations have their place, but usually for EXTREME arrhythmia cases when meds are doing nothing, and the symptoms are constantly severe.

You have exactly the same thing as I do except I also get PVCs. My cardio, actually both of the cardiologists that I have seen said it did not warrant an EP study. The second cardio is at a teaching hospital and he works directly with an electrophysiologist and told me it was not necessary to see him. He told me if I start getting SVT attacks that take 30 min. or more to stop AND if I start getting them several times a week, he would set me up with the electrophysiologist. I think you need to just see one more cardologist and then try to not worry anymore.

Thank you so much. How long has it taken you to get over the fear? And did you ever get an exact diagnosis?

BTW - I am obsessed with that cami in your pic!!

I still fear them when it happens. Especially if I am out shopping. But I don't allow myself to fear them longer than a few minutes and then I move on. I used to run out or away from any situation I was in because I was just so scared.
Yes I got an exact diagnosis because I had the holter on and got two episodes during the night. They woke me up. I had a 6 beat run and a 12 beat run. Just beatbeatbeatbeatbeatbeat, then normal beats again. Then another fast episode with 12 beats. My doctor didn't even bring it up! I found out when I asked for the report. I also had over 200 PVCs and 100 PACs on that holter.
HAHA, that cami is from Nordstrom.

Same here. It took quite a while to beat the fear, and lots of pain and therapy. Many hours reading, understanding why it happens, and using CBT to work on re-programming my mind when it happens ( had a couple of hours of PVCs today, and just ignored them and did what I had to do). So it isn't easy work. Also had a clear diagnosis, as the PVCs were frequent on the holter and multiple EKGs in the doctor's offices.

Yes, Jodie, the cami is totally bit chin'. LOVE it!

Darnit. We don't have Nordstrom. I will have to look online

Thanks guys. I can't tell you how much you all have helped.

I have been in talk therapy...well...for MANY years and still am. I need to look more into CBT. I did some on my own before being diagnosed with heart issues. I worked so hard to convince myself that nothing was wrong with my heart...that it was just the panic talking. The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook was like my Bible and helped SO much. (I need to find that). But then I had the episode and everything went down the toilet.

TRy CBT--it really has helped me tons--one learns to re-program the mind, and work backwards from a worst case situation, to a more likely case, and as such, you learn to feel better.
