Magnesium make you tired? Or depression?

I started taking Magnesium - I take a 250mg 2x a day. I feel super tired all the time. I was wondering if anyone else feels this way with it.

I kind of feel like its just from a depression maybe too. I was feeliong very depressed and crying all the time. Now I feel better than I did - and I feel that I am able to get through most of my episodes of PVC's, but I still feel sad and anxious and worried a lot more than not. I have zero motivation to do anything and am tired a lot. I know that sounds more depression related - but just was wondering if anyone gets tired on the magnesium.

Christina

Hi Christina! I have been taking the Magnesium as well for over a month now and have not noticed any change in sleepiness. I do not think it's the Magnesium but I am not a doctor either. I am tired all the time anyway so who knows.

Absolutely, that is what my doctor said. Worrying about it only makes it worse. Easy for him to say, though.

Sorry you are feeling that way. Magnesium can make you tired. It is sometimes prescribed to help you sleep. Maybe try taking it before you go to bed.

It definitely can make you tired, as Magnesium has a tranquilizing effect in general.

Thanks for the input. I seem to get PVC's when I wake up which puts a bad start to my days. On days I don't work I come home after dropping kids off and go back to bed. I've never done that ever! My PVC's gave lessened but I wish there was a magic cure to get rid if them completely! Think of how well we all would be. I do take magnesium before bed but also one in morning. Maybe should take both before bed?

Yes, Magnesium should be taken in the evening. You may have to start with lower dose and increase to the total of the 2 doses you are taken or try natural food sources of magnesium in the evening.

I take mine in the morning. 400mg. Seems to be working great so far. I'm almost afraid to say it lol
Mary - why is it better to take it at night?
