Medications for PACs/PVCs

Do you personally take anything for them?

What is it?

Does it work?

How long have you been on it?

Side effects?

I have been on Metoprolol for years now. It was working wonderfully and still does for tachycardia. But clearly, it is either pooping out or the PACs are just getting worse. I was on 4 times the dose I am on now. I was slowly going down hoping to one day come off. But I have stayed at this dose for well over a year now (12.5 mg twice a day). I have a feeling Doc may suggest upping the dose or trying a new med. So, wondering about others' experiences. I will be very upset if I am given something which makes this worse or makes me gain weight. VERY upset.

I do not take meds but have been told I can if the symptoms bother me too much.

Never have taken them, I have heard they can sometimes be worse than the problem.

I take Atenolol but mainly for the SVT. However it used to keep my PVCs very quiet. I think after 20 years it is just not working as well anymore. Doctors usually do tell you to try and increase the dosage and that doesn't work well for me because it lowers my bp and heartrate a little too much. But, if I break it up throughout the day it seems to help. I haven't had any side effects but that could be because I have always been on a very very low dose. For 15 years 6.25 mg worked. I just recently bumped it up to 18.75 and I break that up in quarters and take it at 8am, 2pm and 8pm. Atenolol has worked great for me.

I have been on 30 mg of propranolol everyday since mid October. It keeps my heart rate in check, but recently, not helping with my PVCs. I feel cold and shakey at times, but the side effects have gotten better. Depression is another side effect. My doctor changed my med today and am hoping that it will hellp.
