Nick, Thanks for the reply. Your height and weight are the same as me. Ask the Dr. about "Vagal tone". Some people have high vagal tone like me, and even before I began edndurance running my resting heart rate was under 60 (high vagal tone). Your resting rate, f you measured it correctly, i.e., when you first awaken and feel rested and RELAXED, is at the high end of normal. People with low vagal tone are more prone to anxiety and have higher resting heart rates. Since your
echo's and
EKG's show a very normal heart, I am sure low vagal tone, coupled with anxiety is your problem. Anxiety means more catecholamines (Spelling error for sure) are floating around in your blood. This is the anxiety hormone. I would talk to the Dr. about some relaxation techniques and start with an aerobic exercise program he/she recommends. There is a simple step test the Dr. can perform in the office in lieu of a treadmill stress test. These episodes sound very much like anxiety attacks (panic attacks last only for a few minutes). A final thought, by any chance does your occupation require long periods of standing? You didn't mention it so I assume your blood pressure is normal. I hope this helps ease your anxiety, intuitively if something were amiss, events of tachycardia would occur far more often. I would trade hearts with you in a heart beat. Of no consequence, my son-in-law is a Brit, and from Devonshire as well.
