New to Skipping Hearts-need support

Hi all,
I am a 37 year old mother of two who has been experiencing SVT since last September. I have gone to my primary and had a negative EKG. However by the time I went the PVCs were gone. Since then I have had them become much stronger in frequency. My 65 year old mother has had this since she was 20 years old. I am just so frustrated with WHY these happen and how I can prevent them from happening. I just recently have had my heart race at rest and it is incredibly scary. I hate looking at my own mortality at such a young age. I am an anxious person and I think this also plays into this condition. Any ideas as to WHY this happens and how you can calm down PVCs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening.

Hi Moonshadow and welcome to the site!
I get PAT which is a form of SVT. It comes out of the blue and usually when I am relaxed. I have also had this problem since I was 18 years old. I am now over 45.
Sometimes over the years the SVT has actually started while I was asleep and woke me up. This is a benign condition if your tests were negative. It is just very annoying and scary. My doctor doesn't want to ablate it because it doesn't happen often enough. I guess some people actually have to deal with this condition several times a day.
Being anxious does contribute to the problem. Just remember that these episodes will not hurt us. For me, the best way to calm my PVC's and PAT's is with reassurance from my doctor because my mind can really play headgames and before I know it, it takes control of the problem and creates more PVC's. When it gets to that point, I'm off to the doctor so that he can tell me I won't die and they will settle down. Sure enough, usually within 48 hours they settle down. All that extra adrenaline that our body produces with worrying all the time just keeps us in that "flight or fright" response which is what these skips feed off of.
Take care and try not to worry. Come back as often as you need to.
Jodie

Jodie is right. Stress and adrenliane play a huge part n causing these things.
Case in point...Last year i was going through some extremely tough personal issues and under a ton of stress.
Then one night last january, after drinking 4 cups of non-decaf coffee,i began having these skips. Long story short what it came down to was i was my own worst enemy. Being upset and nervous all the time only makes them worse.
And she is right on another thing...Your going to live and be just fine! i thought i was a goner last january and here i am still alive and well!

Welcome to our group Moonshadow, you are in good company.

I can relate to your fears and conerns, depending on my mood, I can either ignore them, or get super scared, most of the time, is is the latter. The more anxious I get, the worse they get. Case in point, tonight, I was walking down the hall way, well, I felt my tummy dropping and the "catch" in my throat, this time, it really upset me, and I thought "oh my, what if this gets worse, oh my" well, this made them act up more. It is a vicious circle. I really do not have any local doc to see, so, being in groups like this, helps a great deal.

I have been having mine since I was 25 and I am now 52, but, am I any less scared? NOPE, you would think by now I would be.

So, I say to you, come here often, post any concerns and try not to worry, I know, easier said than done, but I have heard it can be achieved.
