Hello to skipping hearts, as I sat here with my King of Hearts event monitor I came across your site...
So here is my story...so to speak... I have had episodes of rapid heartrate for 5 years or so....I have had threads of PVC's for 3 years and within the past 6 months or so The PVC's happen one right after another and when they occur I have to cough, because it feels like my chest is getting pounded.... I have had episodes of tachycardia with dizziness which usually occur with movement, but not always. I have occasional gray outs where I feel like I am going to pass out.... I am trying not to freak out about this and I have had my monitor on for about 4 days (I have it for 30 days) I never thought I would be wishing for my skipping heart to happen...but I do want to catch my heart in the "act" you might say.... I have had 1 abnormal EKG and 1 borderline...showing non specific st depression and one showing nonspecific st depression and sinus tachycardia.... I had a chest xray showing mild heart enlargement I had my echo but don't know results yet... Have high blood pressure...which we are trying to get under conrol...have been on Verapamil 240 for five years..non smoker...need some support and a place to be around others who understand... |

Welcome to skippinghearts!
So you get to wear that monitor for 30 days. It sounds like from the description of your constant skips and such that you will have no problem catching stuff. I know that "gray out" feeling. It happens to me when I feel a long pause. I hate it. My heart usually kicks into a fast rate (220) after that pause and lasts anywhere from 1 minute to I think the longest was about 20 minutes. I understand your fear. Ironically for me, I am more upset when I am wearing the monitor so I do get a lot of PVC's. I'm just so worried that something bad will show up. Of course it hasn't and I'm sure you will be okay too. Keep us updated. Have you sent any transmissions in yet? Anthing that could put your mind a ease a little? Jodie |

Thanks everyone...yes i have sent a few transmissions in and I suppose they weren't horrible because no one has called me or anything...
I have not really felt anything major yet but my cardio told me to send in and send often so I guess I am sending stuff in for every little minor thing I feel ...My skips have slowed down..they go through weeks where I have them all the time and other weeks I feel nothing... My monitor holds 3 events and I sent a batch in today and two of them I had pressed the button by accident ...those things are touchy! The other was when I had climbed the stairs and my heart seemed to be going much faster and usual and I was more winded than usual and my heart felt fluttery....so I hit the button...figured why not? When I sent it in it sounded like usual at first and then there seemed to be all screechy sounding and then went back to the regular rhythm so maybe it picked something up I did not feel at the time... It is weird wearting the monitor..if I was not paranoid before this...I certainly am now...LOL My pcp thinks that I have SVT based upon what she caught my heart doing in her office....and the EKG...so we will see... I suppose no news is good news.... Thanks again.... |

My PVC's do the same thing as you, where you're hit with them for what seems like weeks, and then they're gone. Then it starts all over again!!!!My hubby gets SVT. His was diagnosed via EKG. Most times it kicks in when he's under a lot of stress. He saw an electrophysiologist, and he told him it's not fatal, just more of a nuisance. Even when he gets this, my hubby is as calm as can be. No fear whatsoever. I wish I was more like that! I too, have experienced times where it feels as if maybe I get a few PVC's in a row and then I feel lightheaded, and sometimes even start seeing stars. I'm sure all will be fine with your monitor. Keep us posted!!!!

Yup...I have some weeks where I have PVC"S (or what I think are PVC's) and some weeks I don't. I lived with them for 3 years...My MD at the time passed them off as normal without any testing other than one ECG. My friend that is a nurse suggested I get a new MD...I am so glad I did..The practice that he was in was an assembly line..one patient after another and sort of a band aid type of practice....My new MD is an Osteopath and is much more open minded...In the end I know I will trust her judgment. I felt it was important to do further testing because I have other risk factors such as difficult to control high blood pressure, an enlarged heart on x-ray, recent tachycardia events with dizziness upon standing, grey outs and a heart murmur...all of which have never been addressed nor diagnosed or investigated...So I have been sitting on this anxiety for a long time now...It has not controlled my life, but it was not until I got my monitor that I realized how down deep I have been very scared about this all....thanks for all of you for being here...
