Not Focusing on Pvcs

I cannot stop focusing on my PVCs. I would like to know how everyone copes on a daily basis. I see that many of you don't even take meds. Please, I need help. This week, I have felt at least 20-25 a day. It is not getting better. The thuds, glubs, etc. are so much more noticeable. My husband said that I should just quit taking my meds and exercise.

I feel depressed and so tired.

I think you can safely forget it. 20-25 per day are NOT statistically significant. That is what everybody out there has, and they don't even know they are having PVCs. Unless you have been specifically told you have heart abnormalities, it simply isn't an issue. Few PVCs like that a should be completely ignored, and concentrate on other activities.

That many a day scared me too... Just after 6 months of it, I started pulling out of the anxiety from them. I think my fear was of it becoming worse but I decided to let it go. I was tired of not living. I kept emails from my doc and would reread them if I got anxious....

Sure, it would scare anybody. I think that even one or 10,000 are equally scary. The situation though is that most of the population does have that many and don't even know about it. We are the unfortunate minority that notices things that feel wrong with our bodies, and we react. The statistics are unverwhelmingly leaning towards it being nothing to worry about with a few PVCs a day. I doubt that even needs any kind of medicine to alleviate them. Try some behavior modification therapy, such as the Relaxation Response, or CBT, and it really does work. DO exactly what DaniRae says--check with your doc, and get reassurance periodically.

IT takes time and practice, Christina. You will get to that place where they don't bother you that much, but it takes a lot. It was NOT easy for me--took lots of re-training my mind to work against a lifelong pattern of thought. You can do it!

David,
Where can learn about CBT and the relaxation response? My therapist never mentioned the above.

During the time I wore the 7 day monitor, I did not feel any, now, it has been off a week, tonight, while talking to my boyfriend in New Zealand, I noticed them, and they scared me, I did not want to hang up, but, for a few minutes, I was petrified, I got a real hot flush feeling during and after as well. I tried to ignore the episode, and kept talking, I was able to maintain my calm, but, I tell you, for a few minutes, I thought I would have a bad anxiety attack.

It only lasted a few minutes, but, I am still afraid. So, I know where you are coming from. Even when having fun like I was tonight, I had a difficulte time ignoring that one episode.

Relaxation Response: Relaxation Response

Books on CBT: http://www.amazon.com/Bestselling-Co...R19MAZ3K4WIWHK

All of the CBT books on that list from Amazon are good. I have read all of them. Message me if you want some suggestions as to where to start.

Start walking, sleep at least 8 hours, eat well by loading up on fresh fruits and veggies and eating until ur not hungry but not full, limit sugars, caffeine and grains except for whole. Start taking care of urself and ur stress level by taking baths, or doing other relaxing things. I suggest trying magnesium or taking Epsom salt baths. Remember they are scary but won't kill u and come here for reassurance as needed. Make sure ur getting enough water and proper minerals. Start journaling food, BM's, ovulation, periods, sleep patterns to try to find any correlation. Some of us don't find a correlation but many of us do and knowing something makes the palps worse such as zero sleep can help lessen the symptoms.
