Painful Palps

Hello there skippers, sorry for my absence but I have had a trying time over the last 12 months. A short burst of VT caught on holter and a suspected bout of AF. I panicked and stopped exercise completely as the bouts had occurred during running. As I stopped the exercise so the palps eased off and gradually became less and less over the year. Until receintly they came back with a vengeance and a new twist! This time they don't just feel horrible they actually hurt! Pain is short and sharp left of centre on my rib area behind my left pec. Feels like a sharp painful spasm, no breathlessness no dizziness no spreading pain at all which I assume is good. It first occurred after overrating and significant stomach bloating ( not sure if significant). I went to the ER and had and ECG and was monitered. Not one palp during this time until they stripped of the wires. Then they started again; I had another ECG which caught a palp. I'm not sure if it caught the painful one or a normal one.
My point is, has anyone else suffered the painful palps? Have they managed to catch them on monitor? Are they any more serious than the usual PVC/PAC's ?
Help my racing mind please...........

I have not had a "painful palp" but, to me, it sounds like maybe a type of GERD. Our tummy's can cause all sorts of weird things when bloated or full.

Hi Suzie, you could have a point I thing that when bloated as I was the diaphragm puts pressure on the heart sack or te vegus nerve and causes the issues. Possibly why I get issues when deep breathing during exercise. ( or used to)
This pain deffinatlely came form the heart area and coincided with a palp. Almost like a slower more painful beat of the heart.

sounds more like an esophigeal spasm to me, they feel like palps or PVCs but can be mildly to extrememly painfull and only last a second or longer

When I deep breath, I will often get more of those flutters, say, if I am bending down and try to breath deeply, NOT a good idea, it will sometimes cause one upon rising, geesh.

I have heard of that before if memory serves my Jeff suffer those and also managed to record one on a holter.
I would be interested to hear of anyone who has had them.
Yes the pain is more intense and quite frightening.
Suzie I also can get variations in HR with deep breathing which triggers the issues during exercise when havin to breath faster and deeper.

Neil, I have had a lot of painful palps over the years. My doctor told me that when my heart feels up with blood that it pushes against the skeletal wall and this causes the pain however he said not to be concerned. Easy to say, he doesn't feel them. HA

I hate when that happens. I read somewhere, that breathing when bending over almost always causes those skips in susceptible people.

Thanks for that TYK it's reasuring to know it's not just me. Your right none of the doctors really know what it's like. I had heard that there are no nerves in the heart and therefore the pain usually comes from the chest wall muscles.
