Prilosec

Hi, My new ENT has put me on the prescription generic form of Prilosec 40 mg twice daily. I was reading on the paperwork that it can cause irregular hearbeats. Has anyone had any problems with prilosec? Also, doesn't that seem a little high of dose?
Thanks!

im still trying to figure out if my PVCs / PACs started from me taking prilosec or not, i stoped taking it for a month and the PVCs and PACs were still there, and yes 40mg seems high. i take 1 20mg pill. ive been to the one site called Ask a Patient: Medicine Ratings and Health Care Opinions and typed in prilosec and out of all the anti-acid pills this one was the one causing alot of irregular heart beats for people. im still not sure if it caused mine at 23 years old.... but ive been on them for about 3 years now so... anything is possible. but i wouldnt take 40mg a day tho

I had PACs before I was put on Aciphex, then Prilosec, now Nexium. I don't think they made any difference with my, but YMMV. I take 40mg Nexium daily, BTW, for gastritis.

I take 40mg of protonix and it doesn't make a difference in the amount of PVC's I get.

I have heard both, that is can make them worse or it may not cause any at all. I am not sure it is the meds but rather the gastro to heart relationship.

Here is an interesting article on PPIs. Warning: Heartburn Meds Can Increase Your Fracture Risk It doesn't mention any heart related symptoms but does explain the indications for taking it and also the cause of heartburn being under not over acid production. I was prescribed one for nausea but never took it. I drink a glass of hot water with lemon juice when I wake up. Before I eat anything take a probiotic then take digestive enzymes before large meals. It works for me. Trying to take as few drugs as I can,

I have taken a product similar to Prilosec and yes, it made my "skips" more prevelant. Needless to say, I no longer take it, I just drink Aloe Vera juice which helps as well. Digestive Enzymes work well also.

Thank you all. I am trying to work my way up to taking it twice a day. However after I started on the 40 mg, I now have a really sore throat and have about lost my voice. So now I am wondering if the red larynx she saw last week wasn't just the beginning of this virus and had nothing to do with heartburn. Plus the medicine seems to make me feel crappy so I have quit taking it until I get over this cold.
