Thanks for all the information Tom. It's really making sense to me because when I inhale I get them and I can stop them when I exhale ( but that's only if they are the ones that start on inhale). Very interesting, and wow it's incredible all the things you've accomplished! How long have you suffered with PVCs?

Hi Katie, this will be my last post. I just read all the pretty nasty stuff in this thread and see that I have done you guys an injustice. DR is obviously very well educated in PVC's and Cardiology and since my case appears to be unique and/or unscientific or worse, inclusion in this forum was a mistake. I meant well. In answer to your question: I suffered an average of 6,000 to 7,000 PVC's a day from August of 2010 to January of 2011. Durng that time I was afraid to exercise and went to a local cardiology group who assured me all was OK... Blood tests, EKG, echo, Treadmill Stress test. Still I was not reassured and afraid to exercise. When a PVC occured wth the tricuspid valve in the wrong position, I would get a visible reaction in my jugulars. I also found I had age related trace regurgitation of both the Mitral and aortic valves and not to worry. I also have Athletes heart which is a benign condition and has no impact on PVC's. My son is a MD on staff at St. Lukes Episcopol in Houstin TX with the Texas Heart Institute in the rehab area. His specialty is Sports Medicine not cardiology. I still call him my private cardiologist . Christmas of 2010 he insisted I come down there and get checked out. Five months of worry and a halt to my exercise program left me depressed. My biggest sponsor threatened to drop me and offered to pay for any expenses not covered by my medical insurance. My PVC's were diagnosed as vagally mediated. I was given a dietary regimen (involves mostly a balanced calcium, potassium and magnesium intake), a 28 day course of Omeprazole, a very detailed explanation as to how the vagas nerve governs heart rate, and how it's irritated state was causing my PVC's. Most of it went over my head and I posted my simplified version which drew so much ire and inflamatory comments in this forum. Yesterday, I asked my son to review my posts and he assures me everything I wrote is accurate. I'll leave it at that .... wow what a long answer to a simple question. I'll get back on track. The onset of my PVC's coincided with a very stressful series of life events. After the Diagnosis in early January of 2011 at THI, I adhered to the diet, went on 5 mg of Prozac, 2.5 mg of lisinopril for the effect ACE inhibitors have on diastole with regard to the Athletes heart. I resumed exercising and by early February 2011 the PVC's were gone. I still get a few every now and then just like almost everyone on this planet. Again I apologize if I scared, angered or upset anyone.

Please don't leave on my account Tom--I do feel you have a lot of value to add to this board. If you wouldn't come off so expert, and explain things in layman's terms, I think I would not have reacted to you so strongly. Why don't you consider staying around and we can discuss things like just plain folks, who all have the same affliction? It was my "bad" to react that strongly--we have had some alleged experts come here and lecture everybody on what caused PVCs, and "how dangerous they were," so I reacted out of a desire to combat that thinking.
If you are willing to stay and be one of us, I think you have a lot to add to this place. How about a "do over," and let's see if we can't all find some common ground. Please don't leave on my account, as most of my comments were made in jest, as I thought you were trying to troll it in here. Please accept my apology and think about staying. Sincerely, David |

C'mon Tom. Stay and be one of us. It was my foul, and I take full responsibility for it. You do have a lot to say, and I think you could help a lot of people. I thought your purposes for coming here were to scare people, but I was wrong. Please stay here--you belong.
By the way, I have an amateur interest in Meteorology, living here in Florida, obviously. Perhaps you could teach me a few things about it. I do have a sincere interest. |

Glad to see you are staying with us Tom. I believe you still have much to share.
For example - I am interested to know if you think the prozac is helping with the PVCs. Can you also share your diet? I sent you a message as well. I hope you got it. |

Hi Tom, I never once thought anything you were saying was scary. I actually think that the idea of the vagas nerve is consoling as well as being able to tone it and so on. I think everyone here should be able to share their experiences without any resistance. I know I prefer to take certain supplements and truly believe that they have helped me, but I've been cautious about telling people my experiences because I don't want to be accused of selling things. What works for one may or may not work for others and we should all share what works. I also think ur story was inspirational to many who suffer from a ton of PVCs. You overcame them for the most part so others may be able to as well. I would also like to know ur diet and any other tips ur willing to share as well. Please continue to share ur story and what has worked for you because you may really be able to help others regain some normalcy in their lives.
