Question Question of concern

I am sorry to be such a pain in the butt, but I have a question, I have probably asked it before, but, I am pretty shook up and can not remember.

Here goes: This evening, I was relaxing, watching Christmas movies on Hallmark, for the last hour, my upper tummy felt sort of gassy, well, I decided to see what my pulse rate was, about half way through my heart started its dance, it felt like this: beat, half beat, pause, beat, half beat, pause, then I really did not feel anything, maybe a quiver, then a pause, then some tachycardia, about 20 beats worth, then a pause, then my heart went back to the normal beats. It scared me big time. It seems lately, when I have that uncomfortable, gassy feeling, I will have this happen. Oh, it also felt really weird in my throat.

Have any of you noticed this, I guess I should not have been counting my pulse, I probably would not have noticed it so much.

I have another question.

On my echo report, which I still say they did not do correctly as they did not fill in the ejection fraction, they printed on my results sheet that it was a technically difficult study, well, why did they not tell me and then re do it? This is very upsetting, I paid over 900.00 and I feel it was done slip shodish.

Anyway, at the end, the conclusions were this:
Small left ventricular size ( I knew this from the last echo) with normal left ventricular global systolic function.
Grossly normal RT and LT heart size and function.
Does this mean that my LV is functioning as it should be?

Yes, I have had that kind of rhythm. Kind of scary, I think it is PACs and then SVT. Did you try coughing to get back to normal. That is what I do and often it will make me cough. I have also let it run its course to see what will happen and nothing happens.

Jeff agrees: Coughing is excellent for that! Good call!

DaniRae will become famous soon enough
I have had some funky beats before too like that, but I also have to say that you anxiety probably caused the big speed up, because once you felt the "off beats" you probably got really anxious.

Stop feeling your pulse so much....the more you focus on it, the worse it will get...I agree it sounds like PSVT, or anxiety.

It sounds like very typical PVC complexes, and if your tests are normal, it is benign, and of no concern.

PVCs are ventricular complexes, whereas PACs are Auricular complexes. Both are extra beats of either the Auricle or Ventricle of the heart, and absent of any pathology, are equally benign. With accompanying heart disease, any irregularity is of some concern, and should be treated, but absent of that, they're normal.

Just to clarify for Chaotic:

When this poster says Auricle, I believe they also mean Atria, which are the upper chambers of the heart. So PAC's originate in the Atria. PVC's originate in the ventricles, which are the lower chambers of the heart.

That is correct. The technical name of the upper chambers of the heart are the auricles, and atrial describes anything pertaining to them.
