I don't know yet but we will find out soon.
My heart skipped on and off for three hours this morning while wearing this holter.
They don't fell like the normal PVC but when you try to explain it, the description sounds like a PVC.
It is just a double faint beat then pause then regular beat. The doctor still thinks it is PVC's or PAC's.
AND, he doesn't seem to worried.
I'll get back with my holter results as soon as he calls me which will hopefully be tomorrow.
Jodie

I was doing ok for the last 6 months, then my general practictioner called me last week and told me my potassium was high and that may be causing my PVCs.(They were almost nonexistant at that point) After that call, they seemed to get worse quickly. Now I have some strong ones that feel like a punch in the chest, some quick ones that by the time I go to feel my pulse they are gone, and then I feel this strange feeling in my chest and I caught it once-it was the beat 2 soft beats and then another beat. No pause no thump. I go next week for my checkup and see what he has to say about that. Good Luck to you. D

Sounds like runs of premature beats. like a short run of SVT.

Hi Mairegra~
yes, you might be right. I was at the doctor getting another holter yesterday and looked at my 2009 holter results and I had along with the 288 PVCs,
2 runs of SVT
I think I saw one 8 beat and one 6 beat run. I know exactly when I had them and the only difference with what I'm feeling with these quick 2 beats is that the other runs were hard. Quick and hard. These are so faint. Could that still be the same thing?
Nothing more on the report the was of any interest
No couplets, triplets, pauses etc.
I returned my holter this morning. Now waiting on pins and needles to hear from him. Lots of skips for the first three hours, then everything settled down.
So now I have some dumb theories....lol
Yesterday when I was going through my 3 hours of skips every minute I decided to bend to the side. I actually felt things move inside my stomach AND I heard a bunch of gas like noise in there move around as well. I stayed that way (bent over) for 5 minutes and during that time NO skips. So I sat back up and I could tell things were "rearranged" in my tummy and continued to have no skips or hardly any skips the rest of the night. I don't know, but I am thin (105 lbs and I'm 5'5") so I was thinking something was distrubing my vagus nerve and whatever it was moved over when I bent over to the left side. Stupid I know...but you want to think you have found an answer when they continue on for hours. Since I had my holter on yesterday too, maybe that wasn't such a good thing that they went away but they were for sure there for 3 hours and sometimes I was counting 6 or 7 a minute so I was happy to get rid of them.
Also I'm working on another theory. I think 1/2 of the atenolol in am and pm is too much for me considering I was just on 1/4 a day for 15 years and it seemed to work until a few months ago. I'm just so sensitive to meds. Maybe when I take that 1/2 in the morning, my pulse slows just enough for these skips to surface. I'm thinking if my heart stays around 75 - 85 the skips are less. That atenolol brought my pulse down to 65 and my blood pressure to 92/58. Who knows, but I'm skipping the 1/2 dose this morning to see what happens and just taking the 1/2 at night. So far, I haven't felt a skip.
I originally started taking the 1/4 of atenolol because my heart was always on the high side. Maybe my body likes that better.

Well the first holter I had on didn't work!
Can you believe that! I was so pissed. Then I went back in for another one on Friday and wore it through Saturday. My heart was very calm. Couldn't get it to skip more than 20 or so beats that I felt.
Doctor called a few minutes ago and told me I had 14 PVC's in 24 hours. UGH....if only the holter the previous day had worked. I was getting 6-7 a minute a times and it went on for 3 hours.
However, he told me that it wouldn't have mattered if he had Thursdays results or Friday's results. I am fine whether there were hundreds or 14.
Of course no double beat thing either.
Jodie

Hi Jodie, That is so annoying especially if you were having odd things with the first monitor. It must still leave a doubt in your mind that something was missed. Also wearing these things are so uncomfortable and inconvenient it makes it even worse knowing that it was a waste of time.

I felt 4 double beats in a row once but usually just get doubles. It scared me horribly but alot of people on this site experienced the same and still do. I actually called my cardiologist and the on call doctor said I'm fine- it's just another type of palpitation.

Yes, just a short burst of SVT. Nothing to worry about.
