Is Sinus Arrhythmia Normal?

Hello -

I'm 24, female, non-smoker, social drinker, in decent shape. I notice that when I'm sitting or laying down and listening to my heart beat, it goes much faster when I breathe deep and slows down a lot when I breathe out.

Is this normal??

I've been stressed lately, but THIS ISN'T HELPING!!!

Breathe easy.

It's totally normal. Some even say it's a sign that you're healthy, because it shows you have high vagal tone. I get that quite a bit, too. My heart rate will jump from a resting rate of 55 or 60 bpm up to almost 90 when I inhale, then back down to 55-60 when I exhale. My sister's a physician's assistant, and she told me the same thing - totally normal.
