Throat PVC's that Make me light headed
Hello every one,
I hope every one is good. I just need some advice from my family here and hope you all can help me. I suffer from horrible acid reflux and was just diagnosed this past June with Barrett's Esophgus. I know that acid reflux plays a huge part with the occurance of PVC's. I especially see them increase when I am stressed ( of course) as well as when the acid reflux kicks in. We all know" its a vicious circle". Stress, PVC's, Acid reflux, more PVC's, more stress.... I have been on every PPI known ( Prilosec, Zantac, Nexium, Previcid) and just three days now I was given Dexilant ( new PPI) from my cardiologist. He swore this was the miracle drug of choice and it would work like nothing else. I thought... AMEN!!!!Well........... guess again.... nope isn't working!Any way... just recently I began to experience PVC's in the throat. I know it seems strange but it has happened. Along with these PVC's comes a slight woosh of light headiness. I have always felt them in the chest prior but never in the throat. Frankly speaking... if I did not have a CT angio gram and all the other cardiac tests known to man, I would swear, this chest buring/pain and PVC's were the on set of a heart attack! Tell me please????? Does any one suffer from what I am going through? If so please share and offer some help to this on going problem. Thanks, Kim

Hi Kim,
I have felt them in my throat but also feel them in the upper part of my stomach. I hate those because if they start up and don't go away for a while, each pause that I feel in my upper stomach makes me feel wierd in the head for a second. Yesterday was horrible for several hours. Double beats, PVCs, you name it. And I felt them everywhere. My boob, my chest, my throat, my upper stomach..... It is all just a matter of the timing of the PVC. So no matter what the feeling, if you have been checked out, they won't hurt you. Just scare you! Jodie |

Hi Kim,
Like Jodie says, its normal to feel PVCs in the throat and abdomen. Most, nearly all of my PVCs, are felt in the throat. It is a weird whooshing feeling, like I have sucked in air. Sometimes it feels like someone has stuck their finger in that soft part of the neck between the collar bones. At times it takes my breath away. If I am talking it can affect my speech for a split second. Less normally, but not rarely, it makes my eyes feel like they are going to bug out. I feel them in the chest at times too, but no nearly as often as the throat. I also have GERD. I had an ulcer last year that finally healed but I still get reflux. The PVCs are worse with reflux and after eating. I know there is some connection here between the digestive tract and PVCs. Doctors have told me that my heart is in fine shape so I have to believe that these won't kill me. I just want the doctors to figure out once and for all how to eliminate them safely and effectively. Bottom line - you are not alone as scary as this whole PVC thing feels. Many of us deal with them daily and it really sucks. Hopefully the future will bring us some level of relief. Jason |

ya i get them in my throat also i have GERD, ive found if PPI's dont work use apple cider vinager, it tastes bad but mix alittle with cranberry juice and that will help the acid reflux, it works better than my prilosec thats for sure, and its instant reliefe, and also the PVC feeling in the throat can also be esophigeal spasms which can cause momentary breathlesness.

Still going to give that a shot Katie!!!
I believe since our skips really are so closely related to the Vagus Nerve that is why it can cause the feeling in the throat. Its so strange and a total pain but I think pretty normal for PVCs |

HEY Kim, welcome to the family. Throat PVCs are common--they are simply the normal skips that are felt in the throat, due to vagus nerve stimulation (likely but not scientifically proven). They definitely get worse with indigestion and acid reflux, so dealing with that is helpful. I feel them in my neck and upper chest frequently--especially the "restart thump" when my rhythm goes back to normal.
