I never felt PVCs in my throat, however my mom does sometimes, and she often has to cough when she has them. This summer I came across an interesting medical case study. One woman went to her doctor, complaining of reoccurring cough. Standard testing did not show anything to be wrong with her throat, respiratory system or immune system. Her doctor had no idea what caused the cough. Luckily for her, she was referred for further testing, which included a 24 hour Holter. The results showed that she experienced frequent PVCs throughout the day, which coincided with her coughing. She never felt her PVCs in her chess or the throat, but she almost always had to cough when she had one! Cough was the only symptom she got from PVCs!
She was referred to an electrophysiologist, who preformed a successful ablation, eliminating all of her PVCs and her cough cleared up. The authors of the study suppose that both PVCs and cough were caused by overactive nerve, which innervated her ventricles and her throat. Just the way her autonomic nervous system was wired. The ablation did not only destroy part of her heart tissue, but also damaged that nerve, causing the cessation of this abnormal reflex. I found this case to be very interesting! |

Yupp......upper abdomen and lower chest, right below the sternum. I get them higher up as well. The good ole THUMP or flutter.

Mine aren't even like a thump or flutter. They just feel like I am dropping in an elevator for a second. Or like someone lightly punched me in the upper stomach. Takes my breath if I am getting a lot of them and trying to talk. And that feeling is right above my belly butten. Dead center. The feeling is associated with the pause as I feel my pulse when the stomach ones start up.
I get all kinds of feelings but haven't felt the throat ones...yet! Either I feel the drop in my stomach when it pauses or I feel the flutter in my chest from the early beat. Probably something to do with the timing as I am told my PVCs are unifocal. I mentioned it to my cardio and he says many people feel them there. Who knows. Maybe because I am small and there isn't a lot of room in there. (as my Gastro told me when I got my colonoscopy without sedation I might add because I was afraid of the drugs). |
