Condition Update #1
A little over a week ago I was "upgraded(?)" to 3rd degree/complete block. I was placed on my second event monitor on the 15th and will have it for 30 days. Instead of the Holter, which I previously had, they chose the King of Hearts this time around. Let me just say this, I can't stand it!!! My previous monitor continuously sent my information to my doctor. My current monitor requires manual event recording and event transmission daily. Because of my condition, rather than send my information daily, I'm required to send it after each recording...up to 10 per day. It is, however, programmed to automatically record and send if my HR drops below 35. Such a time-consuming monitor! Especially while trying to juggle a heavy customer service/phone call job. Luckily, the owner is my fiance's father...although I can definitely tell that my constant doctor's appointments are beginning to affect the flow of things around here. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it would be for someone in a different situation.

The monitor I'm on only records when i press it as well. It holds 5 recordings only. I can only upload it Monday thru Friday 8:30-3:30. To make things even more annoying they take a break between 12-1 and never pick up after 3. This weekend I had 2 episodes, accidentally pressed it once and have had done small palpitations but haven't pressed it because I'm worried I'll miss something major later. I sleep in mine but it doesn't automatically send anything even my rate goes too low. I feel ya! It's a pain I wish we could wear something that we didn't have to think about! I forgot to mention that I have to go to a neighbors house to upload mine since I don't have a landline phone! I'm sure she will be getting sick of that soon too.Posted 09-25-2011 at 10:53 AM by Katie

God Katie, our stories are almost identical!!! I can only upload Monday through Friday as well, but between 7:30am and 5pm. And I'm also only allowed to upload from a landline phone! It's horrible because my fiance and I use our cell phones as our home phones. I normally upload each morning at work though...so it's not that bad. My last monitor was awesome because I really didn't have to think about it at all. It was just more annoying because the "monitor watchers" called me NONSTOP to check if I was okay...I'm talking like, 2am. It was horrible. Originally, they only gave me 3 recordings with this monitor but I had them change it to 10 since I experience symptoms constantly. Maybe you could call your doctor and explain that you haven't been recording all of your episodes because you're worried that you'll miss something major? How long do you have to have your monitor for? Keep me updated!!!Posted 09-26-2011 at 10:07 PM by ashleylovie

Hey! I'm keeping my monitor for the month. I think I'm going to go crazy with this thing! How many palpitations do u get daily, and how do you deal with it and not freak out? I talked to my nurse today and she only has my baseline the other info isn't turned in until October 19 when I submit my holter. Then she said it'll take awhile for the doctor to get my info and read it over so who knows when I'll find out. Have you gotten any feedback on yours lately?Posted 09-28-2011 at 12:47 PM by Katie

Hey Katie! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you! I'm normally over at heartconnect. com and I keep forgetting to check in here!! I am on some medication for my adhd that I take in the mornings and around 4pm, when it starts to wear off, I get palpitations for about an hour. It's the most annoying thing in the world!! I can't believe they don't have more info for you from your holter!? When I had mine, they called me nonstop(literally, even at 2am) and my doctor was receiving information constantly! I think you said earlier that you have an event monitor though...rather than a holter that is constantly monitoring you with the option to record symptoms as well. When you call in your recordings, do the nurses give you any feedback? They would have your EKG right in front of them and should be able to discuss your symptoms in comparison to your chart. Last Monday my HR got down to 32bpm's, which is the lowest I've ever experienced. The lowest before that was 41, I believe. But I'm going to write a new journal entry all about that haha so go check it out
Let me know what's up with you and your monitor woes...I'm super interested!! Take care doll
