Yes I have been a patient of anxiety and panic disorders for 13 years or so. But once I got it under control with Zoloft when I turned 20, problems were very few and far between... Yes I smoked, Yes I drank coffiee and drank regular sodas etc., but I wasn't a lazy person etc. So 2 years ago I quit smoking, I never really drank a lot of alcohol but maybe on weekends when I would hang out with friends.... Walk my dogs nightly. My doc increased my Zoloft when I decided to have my heart looked at for palpitations I would get for a few days every other month or so. For some reason, once I made the appointment with the cardio, it threw me into full blown panic mode.

So I went through the cardio appointment, he was very sure it wasnt' anything serious. Had and EKG, which was good. I got an echo (which I kept asking the woman if she would tell me if she sees something really bad), got the results of the echo and he said it was well within the "normal" limits. I was to wear a 30 day monitor which at first wasn't too bad. But once I realized when I pushed the button if they called back and wanted another recording, it was to make sure my heart had corrected itself.... Great, now I was scared to push the button.

So, I used to take diet pills, my cardio said to take them as normal when I wore the monitor to see if that was causing anything. Well the 1 day I took it, I got a call from the device company said I should be freaking out, that I had a 6 beat run. No idea what that means.... to this day I still don't. But that did it for me. I was driving down the road and though I was going to die. My doctor called me shortly and said that no, he thinks it was all because of the diet pill, to not take anymore (shoot, by then I wanted to flush them anyway)... He said if I had other symptoms, passing out, etc... to go to the ER but he truly thought it was all in the pills.

So he refers me to see a EC doctor, who I was while I still was wearing the monitor. He had the results of the "run" as well as some single beat PVCs I had reported. The first thing he said when he walked in, is that I am fine. No need to worry, that I just had to cut out stimulants and that in the future if I had runs without the stimulants to come back, we could do beta blockers or even albation. I asked if I needed to ever follow up with him again, he said NOPE, have a nice life... And that they only way he would see me is if things got worse.

So I should be happy right? WRONG, I was scared to death. I wanted to hear that I had NOTHING wrong with me, that is was only the meds causing it, and that I was fine. Knowing I had something funky, even though not a concern at this time, has been enough to through me info full blown hypochondria. I fear ever funny beat etc.

I am working on getting my nerves under control, because on good days, the PVCs don't bother me. Other days, every one sends me back.

On top if it all I have been getting "heart" pain, in my left chest. Has gotten worse over the past 6 months, since I started working with a cardio. on my left side mainly, sometimes in my back. The Cardio and EC both said this isn't heart related. My primary care has had CT Scans, Xrays, Blood work, Acid reflux meds and now a MRI to see if the pain is from my spine. So that just makes it worse.

So that is my story and I am sticking too it. For now, I am just looking for my fairytale ending, and to live happily ever after. First, I just have to get over this hurdle.

You'll get there. Doesn't seem like it today, but you will.

You know that old saying "He made my heart skip a beat."? How do you think that saying came to be? Me? I thought it was just a goofy saying somebody thought up. Then I realized, once I started getting PVC's, that no, it wasn't made up, that people were actually having their hearts skip a beat because they were so excited.
And it turns out that nothing is wrong with that. Make sure to follow the links to those little articles at the very tip top of every page on this site - you'll see that almost everybody gets PVCs and PACs. Your body is a fantastic, wonderful, incredibly complex thing that relies on millions of inputs to do it's job, and it has all sorts of backup systems and backup systems for the backup systems, and those are all in place because no single part of your body works perfectly every second of every day.

So. Congratulations, nothing is wrong with you. At all. Just that you may need to redefine for yourself what having nothing wrong means. Just tweak it a little to mean "human" instead of "superhuman", that's all.
